Message to the men. Hi guys, attending this retreat doesn't say anything about the state of your marriage. Good or bad. This is literally a time to unplug and focus on each other. I have never seen anyone come away from the 7 Indiana retreats Suzette and I have attended, saying they had wasted their time and money. It isn't a counseling session. We have large group sessions, small group sessions, and time for the couples to reflect on the exercises. Phil and Lisa Bailey are personal friends of ours, and they have a passion for people and for those people to have strong marriages. Nobody should be nervous about being put on the spot to overshare or made to feel guilty if they decide they want to let others respond and just listen for a bit.
Games after the sessions are always a blast, although the people I play Euchre with are in Indiana, so I will need some of you to step up...
I do need to warn you though. Something happens at these retreats. The couples become friends and stay in touch, pray for each other, and are there for each other in the rough times and the good times.
You should expect to experience the same thing here.
